Habthera Nutrition was founded by Mark Nessim, MD, a board-certified anesthesiologist with years of experience guiding patients through the physiological stress of major surgery. Working within Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) protocols, he saw a critical gap in the recovery process: patients undergoing enormous physical change were left without the targeted nutrition their bodies needed to recover fully.

Then he saw the same gap somewhere new — in patients on GLP-1 medications like semaglutide and tirzepatide. Rapid, medication-driven weight loss is a major physiological event, and it makes many of the same demands on the body as surgical recovery: preserve muscle, protect cognition, maintain gut function — all while eating far less.
